Lisa Neville’s Christmas present for Geelong families is that they could soon be paying for expensive desalinated water.
Today the Water Minister revealed plans to send Geelong’s share of water from Lal Lal Reservoir to Ballarat and to provide Geelong with desal water from the Melbourne system.
The cost of water from Lal Lal Reservoir is $80 per megalitre, while the cost of producing desalinated water is around $5000 per megalitre.
“Daniel Andrews is selling out the people of Geelong to justify turning on their desal plant.” said Andrew Katos.
“This announcement is a Christmas gift from Lisa Neville that no Geelong resident will want to receive.”
“Last time Labor was in government water bills in Melbourne doubled, and it’s looking like Geelong could also face increases under this Labor government.”
“Lisa Neville is desperately searching for a way to justify turning on the desal plant and it looks like Geelong families will be the ones to pay for it.”
