Today, Member for South Barwon Andrew Katos MP announced that if elected to Government in November, the Liberal Nationals would commit $450,000 to Grovedale Football Netball Club towards long overdue and planned works for the club.
Attending the Grovedale V Lara match, Andrew Katos MP made the announcement at half-time, noting that this funding has been long overdue for the club and will assist the club as it continues to grow.
“With the rapid growth of the southern suburbs of Geelong, especially the Armstrong Creek Growth Corridor – this funding will allow the Grovedale Football Netball Club to continue to grow and provide space for more players.”
The $450,000 will go towards new visitor and home change rooms and storage facilities, change rooms for the umpires, and the building of a roof over the viewing stand at the netball courts.
“The rise of AFLW has created an unprecedented demand for women’s football and facilities are urgently needed to assist with this growth – this funding will help to achieve this.”
“Daniel Andrews gives $225 million away to the AFL but fails to ensure our local clubs receive anything when they are crying out for funding.”
At the announcement, Mr Katos acknowledged the clubs success and noted that the growth of the club was ever increasing with the rise of AFLW and the growth of players from the Armstrong Creek Growth corridor.
Currently the Grovedale Football Netball Clubs facilities are in poor condition and need to be improved to ensure standards are met to continue senior cricket, junior cricket, senior football, junior football, girl’s football and all abilities football.
The Grovedale Club is an ever expanding club and Andrew Katos MP, Member for South Barwon is proud to be fighting for the club to expand even further – and continue to deliver excellent sporting results
“As the local Member of Parliament, I am proud to be continually fighting for our grassroots sporting clubs – and will continue to deliver for them.”
