The Liberals will commit $730,000 towards upgrades for Torquay Surf Life Saving Club.
These upgrades will provide additional storage for equipment and training, patrol and first aid, a ground floor café/kiosk facility and disabled toilets as well as window replacements and space for Community Education and training facilities.
“Torquay Surf Life Saving Club has made a huge contribution to participation in the local community and it’s only fair that they receive the support they deserve” said Andrew Katos MP.
Torquay SLSC has a growing membership base and over 200 volunteer patrolling lifesavers, along with Nippers; a well-known youth development program.
This announcement expands on the previous Liberal Nationals Government’s funding which replaced the aged and dangerous, asbestos ridden roof of the club.
“This upgrade will continue to improve access for the club members, volunteers and the community I am beyond proud to have advocated for this result” stated Andrew Katos MP.
The Liberal Nationals look forward in seeing the club grow and that these updated facilities will continue to develop the already strong culture of the club and strengthen their proud volunteer community service in the region.
“As the local Member of Parliament, I am proud to be continually fighting for our grassroots clubs – and will continue to deliver for them” said Andrew Katos MP
